abstract = "In 2010, the district of Palmares, located in the state of
Pernambuco, suffered a big environmental impact due to a strong
flood of the River Una, with repercussions on several to the
resident population. This work presents socio-environmental
conjunctures afterward flood due this event is considered of high
magnitude. For this was used RapidEye high spatial resolution
satellite image of year 2015 of the area to check the occupation,
contrasted with on-site visit and the data of the Chart of
Susceptibility to the flood of the CPRM, which enabled us identify
the area classification as high, medium and low risk. This context
highlights that interventions have been taken by the government to
combat and minimize new flooding due the risk that the area
presents to the population, for example, the development Chart of
Susceptibility to the flood, Digital Terrain Models (DTM), both
necessary for this research. With the analyzes it was evidenced
that the population continues to occupying many areas affected by
flood and that even with the development of public projects to
combat flooding the region is still very vulnerable. This context
emphasized that, the monitoring of the affected areas is a
substantial factor to detecting impacts and to forestalling future
risks. It is noteworthy that all products were generated from the
high resolution image data, which allow a better interpretation of
the area and aid in the restructuring projects.",
